Dartford MP Gareth Johnson opened Bluewater’s annual Job’s Fayre just days after Dartford’s unemployment rate had reached a record low.
Last week figures released for August 2015 showed that the number of people claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance had fallen to a 19-year low of 783 people. This is the lowest figure since the constituency records began in 1996.
On Friday, Mr Johnson attended Bluewater’s annual Job’s Fayre hosted by The Learning Shop which had more than 2000 temporary and permanent jobs on offer from over 80 retailers and restaurants participating.
He said: “The continual fall in unemployment is great news for Dartford and is a testament to the hard work of numerous organisations including the Learning Shop, which held its annual Job’s Fayre last week.
I was delighted to be invited to this event which is a fantastic opportunity for local jobseekers to meet employers.
This year’s event was better than ever with more than 2000 jobs on offer in a variety of roles, both permanent and temporary.
Whilst we should not become complacent about the current positive economic outlook, it is pleasing to see so many jobs on offer.”
