A petition in opposition to the Mayor of London’s ULEZ expansion has reached 30,000 signatures.
The petition No to Labour’s Dartford Car Tax, was set up by the Dartford Conservatives and Gareth Johnson MP.
The MP for Dartford, whose constituency borders the London Borough of Bexley, has been a vocal opponent of the Labour Mayor’s plans to charge commuters £12.50 a day.
Gareth Johnson said; “The ULEZ expansion will be a disaster for working people. Dartfordians will be penalised for simply travelling to work or just going about our daily lives. The response to the petition here in Dartford and the level of opposition in the Mayor’s own consultation shows that people are against ULEZ. However, despite the level of opposition, Sadiq Khan and Labour Leader Keir Starmer are determined to carry on. It is clear they are not listening to the growing opposition here in Dartford.
Myself and my Dartford Conservative colleagues will continue to oppose ULEZ.”
