The number of people in Dartford claiming the dole has fallen by 8% in just one month.
Figures released today show that just 716 people in Dartford claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance in November, down from 779 in October. The number of claimants has fallen by just over a fifth since November 2014. It means that only 1.3% of people in Dartford aged between 16 and 64 are now claiming JSA.
The number of claimants aged between 18 and 24 has fallen from 230 in November 2014 to 160 last month.
Gareth Johnson MP said: “These figures are fantastic news for Dartford. Yet again we are seeing huge improvements in Dartford’s employment situation. The fall this last month is particularly significant as there are over 20% less claimants than this time last year. We are also seeing an increase in wages and because of the low inflation, it means people have more money in their pockets to spend. There is still work to be done, we mustn’t be complacent, but this really is great news for Dartford.”
