Gareth Johnson encourages people to make their views on the Dartford Crossing heard

30th June 2011

Today a consolation has been announced by the Department of Transport on proposals to change the charging regime at the Dartford Crossing.  These proposals concern new possible charging rates according to the type of vehicle using the Crossing.

Gareth Johnson said “I would urge as many people as possible to take part in the consultation process and make their views heardI maintain that the tolls should be scrapped in their entirety let alone increased. I do though welcome the fact that we have overturned Gordon Brown’s commitment to privatise the crossing and that we will remove the current system of toll booth charging and use modern technology instead. I also welcome the fact that the local resident scheme will remain untouched by these proposals”.
