Gareth Johnson appointed to Cameron’s Justice Department Support Group

New MP Gareth Johnson has been appointed to the Justice Departmental Support Group which has been set up by David Cameron to assist the work of the Ministry of Justice. He will be able to use the 20 years of experience of working within the Criminal Justice System to assist the Secretary of State for Justice Rt. Hon Kenneth Clarke MP with the work of his department.

Gareth said: “It is a genuine privilege to be given this opportunity so soon after being elected as a Member of Parliament. I am really looking forward to supporting the new Government as a member of this support group. I have built up a fair amount of experience with the way that our Judicial System works and I welcome the opportunity to put that experience to good use.”

In the coming weeks the group will assist with the scrutiny of new legislation produced by the Department of Justice and will advise and assist the Ministry of Justice with its work.
