The run up to Christmas is a really special time for me and my family and during this time I enjoy meeting up with members of our community.
This month I have had the pleasure of attending some of our outstanding schools and it is great to see our local education system in action.
One of those visits was to the opening of a new building at Stone St Mary’s Primary school. This is a fantastic school which really brings the best out of its children and the new building will help facilitate the expansion of the school and allow more youngsters to experience the excellent education it offers.
Last week, during another school visit, I was quizzed by the sixth form at Wilmington Grammar School during an open session on public speaking and how the processes of Parliament work. This is another example of a school which goes from strength to strength
Christmas is a time to relax and celebrate with family and friends. It can also be a tough time of the year for some. The pressures of Christmas can be difficult. Many people reflect over Christmas about what they have and what they have lost. I hope however you get to enjoy your Christmas however you spend it.
