This Sunday 6th July, I will be holding my annual Charity Cricket Game at Hesketh Park, Pilgrims Way, Dartford. The event will be raising funds for the Arrow Riding Centre for the disabled in Darenth and also to help Dartford Cricket Club’s youth teams. Last year the event raised £3805 on the day which included a generous donation to the Arrow Riding School from Sainsbury’s in Dartford. Entry to the event is free.
Dartford Cricket Club’s Junior Academy is a centre of excellence for juniors wanting to learn and play cricket. Their aim is to provide excellent cricket education and more importantly help all juniors have fun and enjoy playing cricket. Dartford Council has assisted them in providing a new pavilion which will be built later in the year and will give them some of the best facilities in the County.
Arrow Riding Centre provides children with disabilities the opportunity to take part in equestrian activities which help their confidence, stature and social skills. It is a fantastic local charity, founded in 1982 and run by the husband and wife team, Ken and Val Blake.
Last year local people really pulled together to make this event a success with hundreds of people turning out to support the occasion and making the day a fun, family event. Part of being an MP is supporting local organisations like the Arrow Riding Centre and thanks to the help of small business providing raffle prizes and large sponsors like Bluewater, Sainsbury’s and McDonalds, I am delighted that the event has been able to take place again this year.
The day will start around 9.30am with Junior Kwik Cricket matches followed by performances from the Fleetdown School Signing Choir, Sly Moves Dance and Sapphire Dance and Drama Academy from 12.30pm. The main match will see Dartford Cricket Club take on my team of 11 players and will finish around 4.30pm.
In addition there will be the opportunity to improve cricket skills and rugby skills with the help of Dartford Valley RFC. There will also be lots of stalls and entertainment. All of this is only possible because of the generosity of volunteers and local businesses providing an incredible array of raffle and auction prizes. So please come along if you can to support this event.
