On Sunday 1st July, I will be hosting my annual charity cricket game at Hesketh Park. This involves a team of local public figures in a match against Dartford Cricket Club. This year’s event will be raising funds for the Arrow Riding Centre in Darenth as well as for Dartford Cricket Club and several local businesses and organisations have kindly given their support.
I have visited The Arrow Riding Centre on many occasions and have witnessed the excellent work they do. It is a fantastic asset to Dartford, providing riding lessons to the disabled from the local area and further afield. The facilities on offer at the centre are excellent and allow those with disabilities to experience horse riding and the physical and social benefits of the sport. The Centre has also been chosen as a training location for the Paralympic Games and will provide facilities for those attending the equestrian events.
Funds will also be donated to Dartford Cricket Club which is proud to be one of the world’s oldest Cricket Clubs dating back to 1727. It is based at Hesketh Park and it welcomes new playing and non-playing members.
As well as the main match, there will also be Junior Kwik Cricket taking place at 9.30 am on the same day, together with stalls, tombola and a raffle. It promises to be a lively family event, with music being provided between innings by Dartford Grammar School’s African Drummers, Brass group and Ukulele Orchestra. All are welcome to attend and support these worthwhile causes.
