Last week Boris Johnson became our Prime Minister following the resignation of Theresa May.
I pledged my support for Mr Johnson last month, after initially supporting Dominic Raab and I am pleased he was overwhelmingly elected by members of the Conservative Party.
Throughout his campaign, he has been steadfast in his approach to leaving the EU and I believe he will be the person to deliver Brexit on 31st October.
On the steps of Downing Street after becoming Prime Minister, Mr Johnson pledged to leave the EU in 99 days. He also paid tribute to Theresa May before outlining a number of policies including promising to put more police on the streets, cutting waiting times for people to see their GP and fixing the crisis in social care.
I welcome his vision that what we need to do is ‘Deliver Brexit, Unite the country and Defeat Jeremy Corbyn.’
In Dartford, people voted overwhelming to leave the EU and we all want to see that happen as soon as possible.
Since the 2016 referendum, politics in this country has been more divided than ever and I hope that our new Prime Minister’s ‘Can Do’ spirit will be a uniting force.
