Bluewater’s Learning Shop is hosting its annual Jobs Fayre later this month with a record number of opportunities available.
The event, which is expected to be the largest yet, will have around 1500 jobs on offer. This is twice as many as last year, with 40 per cent full time positions. Around 60 retailers and restaurants will host stands looking to hire the most talented people from the area.
Since I was elected in 2010, there has been a steady fall in unemployment in Dartford and it is positive to see so many more job opportunities available. In fact figures released last month showed there were 1,122 people claiming Job Seekers Allowance and the number of 18-24 year-olds claiming JSA has also fallen by 53 per cent since 2010. This fall in unemployment is down to the hard work of numerous organisations including The Learning Shop and the town’s Job Centre as well as the growing number of apprenticeships open to young people.
Bluewater has said the message to employers this year is, ‘If you like a candidate, make them an offer as the best people will be in great demand.’
Events like this are really positive for our local community and a great opportunity for anyone looking for work.
