This week Clarence House announced that Prince Harry will be marrying his girlfriend Meghan Markle in the spring.
Prince Harry has been dating the American actress for just over a year and, with the blessing of their families, he proposed at his home in Kensington Palace earlier this month.
As fifth in line to the throne and the second son of our future King, HRH Prince Charles, Prince Harry has always been in the public eye and is a very popular member of the Royal family.
In the couple’s interview for their engagement, it is obvious to see that they are very much in love and very happy. It was also really poignant to hear that Prince Harry had designed Meghan’s engagement ring, using diamonds from his late mother, Princess Diana’s collection.
Prince Harry has evolved from being known for his fairly rebellious antics to being a much respected and well-loved member of the Royal family. He has said that Meghan will be joining the royal ‘team’ and working alongside him on the very many causes and charitable organisations they hold close to their hearts.
The details of the wedding will be revealed in due course, but I am sure the day will be celebrated throughout the country as well as around the world. The British Monarchy has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years and it is good to see the younger members of the Royal family are looking forward to representing our nation and the wider Commonwealth for many years to come.
On behalf of everyone in Dartford, I would like to wish Prince Harry and Meghan a very happy future together.
